At just 19 months old, Stormi the serval has already lived two very different lives. Born into captivity and kept as a pet, she quickly outgrew the confines of domestic life. Her boundless energy, wild instincts, and insatiable curiosity proved too much for her former owner, who could no longer meet her needs. Thankfully, Stormi found a new home at WildCat Ridge Sanctuary, where she can finally embrace her wild nature.

Feisty and full of spirit, Stormi spends her days thoroughly exploring her enclosure, pouncing on anything that moves, and keeping the staff on their toes. While Stormi certainly enjoys conventional feline activities like climbing, stalking, and leaping, we discovered that she also enjoys something a little more unexpected: story time. More specifically, she seems to enjoy science-fiction graphic novels. Whether it’s tales of dying moons or mythical beings, Stormi seems to resonate with stories as wild and untamed as she is.

Now safe and thriving, Stormi serves as a reminder that wild cats are meant to be just that—wild. At WildCat Ridge, she finally has the space, care, and freedom to be her true, extraordinary self.

Suri, an African Serval, was born in May 2011 and originally used for breeding. Her owner reached out to us asking if we could give her a lifetime home because she was no longer an able to care for her. Of course we said yes.

Suri is full of energy and sass. She loves chicks, gizzards, and really any food her keepers offer her. She’s hilarious during feeding time, flinging her arms and body around in anticipation for snacks. She loves chasing the hose water, playing chase when the keepers throw treats, and rubbing against bushes! Before coming here she never experienced the outside, and now she can’t get enough! With her playful and energetic personality, it’s easy to forget she is an old lady!

Taz is one of the newest servals at WildCat Ridge Sanctuary and was sold as a Savannah cat. It was heartbreaking to see the bond that he had with his owner but for his safety, she reached out to see if we could give him a lifetime home. He is a gorgeous boy and still very young. He was very well cared for which makes a huge difference in his health! After months of living next to each other Taz and Sassy are now roommates! They are very close to the same age and now that Taz has been neutered it was time to try an introduction. It’s working out great and we love seeing them play together!

Misha’s journey to WildCat Ridge has been a long and sadly painful one. His original owners bought him from a breeder in Russia, who told them he was an F1 Savannah (a wildcat/domestic hybrid). He is, of course, 100% serval, and a very wildcat indeed.

Like many wildcats kept as “pets,” Misha was fed an improper diet and developed metabolic bone disorder, leading to weak, easily broken bones. At only two years old, he has pins and plates in both front legs from fractures. Now on the correct diet, we expect to see great improvement, but he will always have a limp. We are excited to share that Misha and Cairo another one of the servals now live together and have become the best of friends!

Misha has come a very long way to find love and care. But now, he is living a happy, healthy wildcat life here at WildCat Ridge Sanctuary ❤️

Cairo is a serval that came to us in June of 2020 when he was only 15 months old. Owned illegally, he escaped his home and was on the run for over a month in Oregon. Sadly, he was hit by a car but was saved by a local gentleman who called the police and got him to Dove Lewis Emergency Center where they found besides having a horrific broken leg his back hip was broken on the other side. He was surrendered to us and Dove Lewis did an amputation and FHO on his hip. Read the full story of Cairo’s rescue on our blog.

We were hopeful that he would recover from the surgery. He spent the next four weeks inside so we could care for his wounds and after only a month thankfully was able to go outside into his habitat! Cairo is doing great and the best news is he and Misha another special needs serval, now live together and are the best of friends!
