Hunter in his Territory
Hunter (African Serval)
Hunter arrived at WCR in July 2025 from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Wildlife Rescue Centre (LUHSWRC) after a year-long international transfer process. Following the international journey from Lithuania, he finally arrived at his forever home at the Sanctuary.
Born on July 27, 2021, Hunter was illegally kept as a private pet in Lithuania. Because African Serval ownership is illegal there, he was surrendered to LUHSWRC.
The rescue centre was provided three options:
- Subject the cats to scientific experimentation
- Euthanize him
- Transfer them to a suitable facility for long-term care
They sought a suitable long-term placement where Hunter could thrive.
Hunter’s personality certainly lives up to his name. He loves playing fetch and “hunting” for his food through enrichment activities, and on hot summer days, chasing the water from the hose. Energetic, playful, and curious, Hunter loves to keep his caregivers on their toes.
