Calvin

Calvin was born 2013 in Oklahoma at a notorious breeding facility, along with his brother Hobbes. They were pulled from their mother and used as photo cubs for the first 12 weeks of their lives then sold to a roadside zoo called Serenity Springs Wildlife Center.

There they lived in small, barren pens, with nothing but stone to walk on and a cement bunker as shelter. USDA had written up the facility over and over for neglect and improper care. In October of 2016, Serenity Springs sold the facility including all the animals to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Together with Tigers in America, TCWR went to work finding homes for over 100 big cats with other accredited sanctuaries across the United States.

WildCat Ridge Sanctuary offered to take in four of the tigers and Calvin and Hobbes were the first to arrive in Oregon on November 14th, 2016. Calvin is a very outgoing tiger, who loves to play with enrichment and enjoys his natural habitat! Because of an improper diet as a cub, he has lingering issues of Metabolic Disease, which causes him to limp. We have him on special supplements to help and he’s doing much better! WCR looks forward to a very long life with this handsome boy!
