Atticus

Atticus was born in 2014 at a notorious breeding facility in Florida with his brother Scout. They were pulled from their mother and sold to a roadside zoo called Serenity Springs Wildlife Center. There they were used as photo cubs for the first 12 weeks of their lives.

At SSWC they lived in small, barren pens, with nothing but stone to walk on and a cement bunker as shelter. USDA had written up the facility over and over for neglect and improper care. In October of 2016, Serenity Springs sold the facility including all the animals to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge.

Together with Tigers in America, TCWR went to work finding homes for over 100 big cats with other accredited sanctuaries across the United State. Atticus and his brother Scout arrived at WCR on January 1st, 2017. Atticus is the largest of all the tigers at WCR and he has a personality as big as he is! We believe that both he and Scout have Siberian tiger in their background, due to their size, light coloring and much thicker coat. He is very dominant and reminds us everyday that tigers are NOT pets!
