Intern Opportunities at WildCat Ridge Sanctuary

WildCat Ridge Sanctuary Internship: A Rare Opportunity to Work with Big Cats

Are you passionate about wild cats and eager to gain hands-on experience in exotic animal care? WildCat Ridge Sanctuary is offering Animal Care Internship positions for hardworking, dedicated individuals ready to make a real impact.

Why Intern at WildCat Ridge?

Home to over 90 captive-born wild cats and hybrids, WildCat Ridge Sanctuary is a true sanctuary—not a zoo, not a roadside attraction—but a place where rescued cats find peace and expert care. We are accredited by Tigers in America, verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, and proud members of The Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance and the American Association of Zoo Keepers.

As an Animal Care Intern, you’ll be immersed in the world of exotic feline husbandry, diet preparation, habitat maintenance, and behavioral observation. You’ll also gain valuable insight into the wildlife crisis and the sanctuary field, equipping you with essential experience for a career in animal care, conservation, or sanctuary work.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

  • Prepare specialized diets
  • Feed the wild cats
  • Clean enclosures and facility areas
  • Assist with enrichment activities
  • Observe and record animal behavior
  • Learn about and implementing sanctuary protocols

What Makes This Internship Unique?

  • No public interaction. Unlike zoos, WCR is a true sanctuary, meaning you’ll spend all your time focused on the animals—not giving tours. You’ll develop a deep understanding of their unique personalities and needs.
  • Hands-on learning. Interns assist with daily operations, including food prep, cleaning, habitat upkeep, creating enrichment, and monitoring animal behavior, all while adhering to the highest safety standards.
  • Work with an accredited team. Learn from seasoned animal care professionals who are passionate about providing the best life possible for these incredible cats.
