Nora is usually a happy-go-lucky tiger who races to greet us every morning, loves to play and, of course, eat! Our keepers know all the cats very well so they could tell immediately that something was amiss.

She was lethargic and had no appetite…

She was unusually quiet, her appetite wasn’t great and she just didn’t seem like herself. We made the decision to take her for tests at Oregon State University Teaching Hospital where a CT scan showed Nora had closed Pyometra. It’s an infection of the uterus and without surgery, it would rupture and kill her.

Once we had the diagnosis, she was rushed into surgery where her surgical team was waiting!

Surgery was a success and she came back home that day. She was up and chuffing the next morning and, after a few weeks of limited activity and rest, she is back to her playful, silly self.

We are thrilled and very relieved!

Dr Connolly
One reason why our cats live such long lives is because of our amazing vets. Dr. Cherie Connolly and her staff at Compass Veterinary Clinic in Lake Oswego do a great job keeping our residents healthy. We are also very excited to have Dr. Dan Lewer of Willamette Veterinary Clinic in Corvallis. He is also the staff vet at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport where he works on everything from seals to sea lions!
