Additional Rescues?

Chobe, Kariba, and Taji all started to settle in beautifully into their new homes, and we thought that we could go back to our daily routines. But we were wrong. Wildlife Waystation was about to close its doors permanently, and all animals needed to find homes as soon as possible.

When Tigers in America contacted us to see if we could make room for more of the remaining wildcats, we said yes. So on August 19 2019 at 4am, Mike Tuller and Tim Adams went on another long drive to Sylmar and brought back four African Servals and a Jungle Cat.

Five more Cats!

The two male and two female servals range in age from 4 years old to 11 and have lived separately at Wildlife Waystation. Tut, the Jungle Cat, is ten years old and very friendly. Because we are providing A New Beginning for the wildcats, and in honor of the President of Tigers in America, (who works so hard behind the scenes to help the animals) we have renamed one of the male servals, Bill.

We have created a YouTube Playlist with videos of our new residents.

Bill

Bill is a shy cat and had the most trouble settling in. At first, he only came out of his den box to eat. He is getting braver every day though and started to trust Caryn, one of our keepers, enough to let her feed him right at the fence. This boy was purchased as a pet, but now at WildCat Ridge, we are providing him with good food, a nice peaceful and natural habitat and all the time in the world to relax and realize that nothing bad is ever going to happen to him again.

Serena (born in 2011)

Serena is still getting used to her new space, and she has been exploring her territory more and more. She is the largest female and hasn't been declawed, which makes us happy! She is eight years old and in good health.

Via (born in 2008) and Jett (born in 2015)

While most cats other than lions are solitary by nature, we have noticed that, when in captivity, they sometimes crave companionship. So, we thought that Via and Jett might prefer to be together (both cats are fixed). The introduction went well, and they are eating close to each other.
Jett is only four years old and, unfortunately, has been declawed by his original owner. Because of that, Via was the right choice as a roommate since she is declawed as well. Via is 11 years old and has been spayed. She is the bravest of the four, out exploring and eating well. Via is a small girl but very curious, and it's great to see her out in the yard.

Tut (born in 2009)

Tut is a Jungle Cat and was previously used in an education program. He is adorable and friendly and loves attention from the keepers. He was originally going to go in with the SC3 group but was a bit too naughty for them. So he's in with the hooligans and doing very well. Violet isn't sure what she thinks of him yet. But other than a little hiss here and there, she is ok.
Tut is a wonderful, social boy who we have all fell in love with. It's a great feeling to be able to provide a quality lifetime home for this special boy.

We were so honored to be able to help our good friends with this ambitious undertaking and are here to help any way we can.

Huge thanks to Matthew, Rebecca, and Tigers in America for making this happen.
