Duma
Welcome to WildCat Ridge Sanctuary, Duma
Duma was born on March 23rd, 2012, and is related to both Cricket and Kane who were part of the 13 Servals that were seized from a backyard breeder in British Columbia in 2019. She was one of the lucky ones as she had a great home and owners who adjusted their lives to her. She had a huge outside natural habitat on a beautiful property in the Nicola Valley on 20 acres.
Shortly after the 13 servals were seized Duma’s owner contacted us to see if we could make room for her in the event that the BC government would ban Servals. At the time we told them to wait and see what happens with the court case.
Fast forward two years and on August 15th, 2021 some of the worst fires in history burned through the Nicola Valley where Duma and her owners had to evacuate. At that point, the owners felt it was time to send her to WCR. Knowing that we had wonderful vet care and space for her, they made the difficult decision to do what was best for her We are grateful that they put Duma’s health and safety first
